For NJ to NYC commuters (working in city and living in NJ), how much do you pay in tolls per day & month?

Husband is willing to move up to 90 minutes away while he commutes to work. I’d like more space and a little more for our money and to be somewhere that has parking (and is away from my in laws chaos lol)… so as a family of 5 with young children we wouldn’t be looking to go to live somewhere trendy right across the water but a little further out.

I’m just trying to get a rough idea of how much the main/biggest tolls are and none of the apps seem to give a clear cut view.. I see a lot of people move to NJ and commute to NYC and I’m sure they wouldn’t do that if something didn’t outweigh the tolls they wouldn’t.

Husband would be traveling from Greenpoint Brooklyn (right near Newtown Creek) to any of these possible areas (I do understand there are smaller tolls exiting but I’m just trying to get a rough idea):

Sidenote — when we’ve traveled from there to view last two apartments I noticed it took us through Staten Island for the commute .. not the city .. (we were looking at Burlington NJ at that time).. not sure if it makes a difference

- North Arlington

- Westfield

- Bridgewater

- Monroe

.. and I saw some nice rentals in Elizabeth and Bayonne but from what I’m seeing they’re set up too much like NYC in some ways and I’d be fighting for street parking so I want to avoid that.

Any help or suggestions would be great paired with what you pay in tolls. I have an old Toyota Camry that’s a bucket but strong and reliable so not worried about wear and tear.. bought that for $2,000 and put $1,500 work in it to essentially make it last another 200K miles with routine maintenance and all that. Paid for an additional inspection and transmission and everything else is great.just replaced most of suspension (as it’s old ) and got brand new tires and an alignment..

submitted by /u/LemonPoppy1985 </
