How do people actually get caught for fare evasion on the MTA?

<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>I’m trying to understand how fare evasion actually gets enforced in the subway.</p> <p>Like, I’ve seen people hop turnstiles or go through the emergency gate or walk into the bus without a OMNY card without funds</p> <p>Who’s actually catching people most of the time? Is it cops watching, undercover people, or station workers reporting it?
