What responsibility do we have to the Lëni Lënape, who have made real public requests towards institutions in their homelands to support their desire to return to Lënapehòkink?

Today, the Lënape are a diasporic community living north and west of their homelands in what has effectively been a centuries long exile. This exile was facilitated by disease, colonial coercion, genocidal violence, and forced removal that was initiated by the Dutch, English, and US governments. Manahàhtaàn and many other place names around NYC are remnants of their language that has developed in relationship with the land over millennia.
