Manhattan · Downtown Manhattan
Chinatown
Canal Street density, all-hours dumpling shops, and a late-night cannabis scene that rides the LES and SoHo spillover.
Chinatown is the densest, most un-reconstructed stretch of Manhattan left, crowded sidewalks along Canal, the grid of dumpling shops and bakeries south of Grand, and a late-night kitchen infrastructure that keeps running after most of the island closes. Licensed dispensary coverage is growing along the Canal Street corridor and into the LES edge. The neighborhood plays well as the second or third stop of a longer downtown evening: a dispensary visit, dumplings past midnight, a walk back across the bridge line. 21+ only.
